Training approach
Our trainer is always the author of a given training. He or she decides on its plan and content. Thus, he or she is deeply involved in the course, anfd is able to share his or her experience with the participants, provoke discussion and infect them with his or her passion.
The trainer is a practitioner who has learned the ropes on the subject matter of the training. Conducting training is only part of his or her professional activity; besides that, he or she is normally involved in projects, putting into practice the knowledge transferred during the training. This enables him or her to share practical tips and suggestions with participants.
What counts in IT is practice and experience. Therefore we spend most of the training time doing exercises based on real-life project situations.
This is what a typical exercise session at our training sessions looks like:
- participants prepare solutions on their own for several minutes,
- one or several participants present their solutions,
- together with the trainer, participants analyse their solutions, compare them, and consider which are correct in a given situation and what the consequences of using a given technique will be.
A single training course in our offer lasts no longer than 3 days. Instead of offering trainings that last for weeks, we offer training paths made up of a series of short courses, with breaks in between. This ensures that participants are not overwhelmed by an excess of material and are not disconnected from their current work for many days.
To efficiently do analysis and design, you need to be familiar with the relevant analysis techniques and notations (UML, BPMN, XML Schema and others). However, knowledge of notations is a means to an end, not an end in itself. Therefore, in our training courses, we do not focus on discussing the meaning of dozens of graphical symbols and hundreds of their attributes, but rather analyse real problems encountered during everyday work of analysts and designers, and we examine different ways to solve them. And by doing this, we also teach the notation.
It is hard to imagine an analytst's or designer's work without specialized CASE tools like Enterprise Architect. However, teaching the tools is not the main subject of our courses (with the exception of the dedicated tool classes). During the trainings, we concentrate on business and technical issues of the exercises, not on how to draw them by means of a given tool. Exercises in modelling are usually done with pen and paper, or whiteboard and markers.
"Software design is part art, part engineering, part guesswork and experimentation" (Rebecca J. Wirfs-Brock). It is rarely possible to say: this model is ultimately the best. A solution that makes sense under certain assumptions turns out to be a nightmare in a slightly different situation. In our training courses, we show that in the work of an analyst and designer, imagination and intuition count in addition to knowledge. And sometimes you have to make compromises.

After-training support
When the training is over, participants return to their daily work and try to put the knowledge they have acquired into practice. This is when specific questions and concerns arise. We do not want to leave trainees on their own. That is why we offer a unique package on the market consisting of training and support for the trainees. As part of this support, trainees have the option of remote or on-site meetings with the trainer for a set period of time after the training, within a given time limit.
The training can also be followed up with a workshop, during which participants can review with the trainer the diagrams, models or schemas they have developed, have their doubts clarified and their questions answered. As a rule, a 1-2 day workshop held 1-2 months after the training will be sufficient.
